3D xrays for implant placement

Our 3D Xrays help ensure the most precise placement of dental implants.

Dr. Darrell Bischoff has been preparing and placing dental implants for more than 25 years. He was one of the first dentists in the Phoenix area to pioneer this technique, and he has placed thousands of dental implants, always using the most current technology available to make sure that his patients have healthy, lasting smiles.

Using high tech for accuracy and quality

Dr. Bischoff uses the Planmeca ProMax 3-D X-ray system to place dental implants with great accuracy. Before placing the implant physically, the 3-D X-ray makes it possible to place the implant virtually. This helps Dr. Bischoff ensure that the implant is placed as precisely as possible, which results in much shorter healing times for his patients.

A dental implant consists of 2 parts: a titanium post, surgically placed into the bone of your jaw, and a ceramic replacement tooth. Unlike many dentists, Dr. Bischoff does the entire dental implant procedure himself –surgical placement of the post and formation and placement of the restoration. You won't have to visit more than one office, or explain your situation to multiple dentists.

Dr. Bischoff carefully designs the treatment for each patient so as to ensure the most successful outcome.  As an artist, he approaches the procedure a little differently than most dentists: he views the restoration as a whole, protecting the proportions of the patient’s teeth and mouth, and producing a finished product that fits perfectly and is aesthetically pleasing.

By using breakthrough CEREC technology, Dr. Bischoff can even sometimes even place the implant in only one visit, eliminating the need for temporaries, and reducing the amount of time spent in the chair.

3D X-rays mean a more comfortable, more accurate fit.

Precise placement with our 3D X-rays

Dr. Bischoff uses the Planmeca ProMax 3-D X-ray system to place dental implants with great accuracy. Before placing the implant physically, the 3-D X-ray makes is possible to place the implant virtually, ensuring an accurate fit and reducing the amount of bone grafting potentially needed.

Rapid replacement with our in-house lab

Dr. Bischoff creates the tooth restoration part of the dental implant in his in-office lab using breakthrough CEREC technology (high-quality ceramic restorations) to create a tooth that matches your other teeth in shape and color.

CEREC restorations are milled from a single block of high-quality ceramic, a substance which is particularly compatible with the body and has the same characteristics as normal, healthy dental enamel.

Dr. Bischoff is very proficient in the use of CEREC technology, and as an artist he blends dental skills with an aesthetic eye, which is vital when crafting perfect and beautiful tooth restorations.

One-Visit Dental Implants

Because of his expertise with advanced CEREC technology, Dr. Bischoff can often complete a dental implant in fewer visits. He will design and place your permanent placement tooth right here in our office, with no need to send your specifications to an external lab. And he can make any necessary adjustments right here, again without requiring a return visit.

If your bone structure is adequate, and bone-grafting is not required, Dr. Bischoff can place the permanent dental implant, post and tooth restoration, in one visit.

This is significantly less than most implant procedures which require substantial waiting time and a temporary crown while the permanent crown is being manufactured.

Dentures or dental implants?

While dental implants can be superior to dentures in terms of function, they are more expensive, and not everyone is a good candidate for the procedure.

When you come in for your free consultation with Dr. Bischoff, he will do a complete examination in order to determine what your options are for tooth replacement. Then he will explain them to you in detail so that you can choose the treatment that is right for you.

Whatever your needs, Dr. Bischoff will listen to your concerns and answer your questions.  He will discuss the pros and cons of using dental implants instead of dentures, and whether you are a candidate for dental implants.

Together you will decide the type of denture or implant that will work best for your mouth, your expectations and budget.

Are you a candidate for dental implants?

The ideal candidate for a dental implant is in good general and oral health. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant. Some people who have lost bone in their jaw still can get implants, but first the bone must be rebuilt using special bone-grafting procedures.

People who are currently wearing partial or full dentures can replace these with dental implants, or use implants to stabilize and secure the denture, making it much more comfortable.

People who are not good candidates for dental implants include:

  • Young patient whose jawbones have not fully developed.

  • Pregnant women

  • People with existing medical conditions. If you can have routine dental treatment, you can generally have an implant placed. While precautions are advisable for certain conditions, patients with such chronic diseases as high blood pressure and diabetes are usually successful candidates for dental implant treatment.

  • Patients who take certain medications such as steroids or drugs that suppress the immune system.

Dr. Bischoff can evaluate you to see if you would be a good candidate to receive implants.
